1982 Bertone Designed Jalpa

The Lamborghini Jalpa that was designed by Bertone was first introduced to consumers in 1982. It became the successor of the Silhouette, which failed to become popular when only 52 of them were produced between the years of ‘76 and ‘77. The Bertone Jalpa has a 3.5 liter V8 engine and is tranversely mounted. It has the ability to do 0-60mph in just under six seconds because of the OHC’s per cylinder row and the four twin-choke Webers. These also give the car the ability to heft at least 255BHP.

The framework and the suspension were pretty much the same ones that were used in the Urraco and the Silhouette. Because of this the body of the car was really the only main difference between all of these cars. Each of the Jalpas were given a targa roof, which can be easily put away behind the seats and against the bulkhead of the engine. The ergonomics of the vehicle and the seating positions were both given high praised when tested by contemporary road-tests.

Not too long ago there was a comparison made between the Jalpa and the Ferrari 328, which highlighted the roadholding capabilities of the Jalpa. Critics found it near to impossible to exasperate an oversteer when gently lifting to compensate the understeering in the high speed corners. The Ferrari would almost immediately step out its back. The Jalpa was given higher rating over the Ferrari because of its overall driving capabilities.
